Make Your Team AI Native In 2027
Handing your team AI tools is the easy part. Making it AI native means rethinking how you hire, review and design teams. Learn how from operators who've done it.

What it's about
86% of CEOs believe their workforce has the skills to adopt AI. Only 25% of employees use it regularly (IBM CEO Study, 2026). Where nobody has written down what good AI use looks like, people are left to work it out alone, on top of their day jobs.
Companies that have pulled ahead, like Shopify, Uber, Ramp and Notion, got there by changing how teams are built, what reviews expect and who they hire. This session shows how to do the same, whatever your size.
AI native teams share two things: skills across the whole team, and leaders who back AI use in public. We'll use the AI transformation model and Luminary's AI fluency assessment to show you where your own team stands today.
It also covers how to find the people already driving adoption, including those outside engineering, and how to reward them without producing AI slop. Hiring, performance expectations and team composition get the same treatment, with L&D built around one clear objective.

- How to tell what an AI native team looks like in practice, and the two ingredients behind it
- How to map where your team stands with the AI transformation model and the AI fluency assessment
- How to find your AI champions beyond engineering, and reward them without creating AI slop
- How to rework hiring, performance reviews and team composition for AI
- How to build L&D around one clear objective

Akhil Raj Gupta
Founder at Luminary, ex-Airbnb
Akhil is the founder of Luminary (theluminary.ai), an AI platform that connects world-class practitioners to individuals and companies for AI education and training.
He also advises CEOs across industries on AI transformation and strategy: how to deploy AI across an organisation, how to become superproductive themselves, and how to build customer-facing AI products. Much of this session comes from that work.
Before that, Akhil spent years in Product and Strategy at Airbnb in San Francisco, where he built AI-powered systems for customer experience, commercial policy and marketplace operations, and lived through the organisational side of AI adoption at scale.
